In the weeks that led to Luna’s arrival, my house was transformed into dogville - toys, crate, treats, dog beds, and a camera to watch her when we left the house. I selected a vet, researched the best foods, signed up for puppy class, interviewed a dog walker, and found a groomer that I could trust. We met the breeder and her parents before she was born and we visited the puppies after they arrived. Luna was born into a loving home and was given a great start. My husband thought I was crazy. Luna was going to be the perfect dog.
At around nine months of age, Luna started barking and lunging at other dogs. Despite our best efforts, we were dealing with a behavioral problem, leash reactivity. It has not been easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing. She has taught me so much. I have been working to improve our lives and gain a better understanding of dog behavior since her first outburst. Together we have completed multiple training classes and we participate in K9 Nose Work. I also completed a certificate program in Applied Animal Behavior through the University of Washington and Pro Dog Trainer Certification through AbsoluteDogs.
